Fair, Halloween and Hunting

We have been busy lately. This will be a whirlwind post just to catch up. Alyvia has been so excited about the fair. For weeks, she has been asking about going everyday.

In the next picture, her shirt says "Future 4-H'er" with the 4-H clover on it. All of our friends kids, that are old enough, show steers in the 4-H show at the fair. In fact the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion are kids from Georgetown. She CAN'T WAIT. She will be old enough to show a lamb next year and she is going to do that. Really, I'm not sure who is more excited, her or me! :)

She loves her daddy. I love him too!! I may be a little biased but I think that child is gorgeous.

For halloween this year she was a lady bug. We go to our church every year, they have a huge fall festival. There are tons of games for the kids and more food than you can imagine. She was all about her red, shiny slippers.

Dove Hunting with her daddy.

Yesterday Matthew took Alyvia with him to shoot doves. She kept saying that they were gonna "smoke some doves". I am so thankful for Matthew, he is such a wonderful daddy to our daughter and I could never ask for a better husband. I am so proud that he is mine!! ;-)

Seward Farms

A couple of weekends ago, my sister in law and nephew was in town from Birmingham so we decided to go to Seward Farms Corn Maize. There was a ton of stuff for the kids to do. Right when we walked in Alyvia spotted this tractor cab and made a b-line for it. You know she is a farmer's daughter.

They both liked this bull and Alyvia kept getting under him saying that she was "milking" him. In the background you can see the targets for the corn cannons. It is a cannon that you can actually shoot whole ear corn out of.

They had stuff like this tractor, made out of round and square hay bales, sitting all around.

And this pig. In the background is the duckpond, you can pay for a handfull of feed for the ducks.

The favorite part of the day for Alyvia was the cow train. This was so cute and she LOVED it!!

Aiden

They had this slide made of PVC pipe. She loved this too.
Another slide.
They had this big box with shelled corn in it and they played in it for a little bit. This is nothing out of the ordinary for Alyvia. She plays in shelled corn when she is with her daddy all the time.

It is hilarious to me that it made her so happy to pretend like she was milking this cow. My daughter is a country girl through and through and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Trying to make her way through the corn maze.

On a totally different note, my sister' s little boy is now eight weeks old and he is just precious. He has jet black, curly hair. He is going to be a big boy, he weighed 9lbs, 8oz. when he was born.

Preggo Eggo!!

Yep. You read me right!

We are so excited and Alyvia is beside herself. She has been asking for a baby sister or brother for a LONG time now. And God willing, she will get one! I couldn't hardly wait to pick her up from school yesterday to tell her the good news. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Guess what Alyvia?? Mommy has a baby in her belly!(thinking I needed to keep it simple for her)

Alyvia: YOU'RE PREGNANT???? (she knew exactly what I was talking about)

Me: Yes. Are you happy.

Alyvia: YES MA'AM!! I hope it's a sister!

She was so sweet and so excited. She is going to be a great little helper. It is going to be a long 9 months for her.

Paint and Pals and a Birthday Party

The last few times that I have gotten my hair cut, I have noticed this place next door

My mom,my sister Crystal, my friend Elizabeth and myself went last Tuesday night and had so much fun. Before you can go, you have to go to PaintandPals.com to register and pick the day you would like to go and which painting you would like to paint. When you get there an artist will have already sketched your painting for you and she will instruct you on the steps to painting your picture. You can take your beverage of choice, whether that is coke, wine, whatever you want. Here are a few pics of our night

Elizabeth looking very serious about her painting.

My Momma and Crystal. I am so glad that they both got to go.

I would highly recommend Paint and Pals if you want to have a girls night out and just do something different and really, really fun. Our artist, Ginger, was VERY nice and patient with us. We all had a great time and can't wait to go back soon. Oh yeah, they also have kids painting classes. When Alyvia gets a little older I will surely take her. Maybe they can teach her the kind of thing she is supposed to paint on instead of the bricks on our back porch and my not-even-one-year-old-outdoor-table-and-chairs-set!!

Alyvia's best little buddy, Macy, had her birthday party today at Semmes Park.

All of the girls at the party were too cute running around with each other and playing on the playground. Alyvia and Macy both love to swing, so that is what they done most of the time. Alyvia HAD to wear her boots.

We had so much fun, thank you Macy for inviting us to your birthday party!

Soon I am going to show you what I am going to do with this beauty.

Roll Tide and Another Finished Pumpkin Project

This past Saturday my friend Elizabeth, her boyfriend Dayton, and his little girl Allie came over to watch the Alabama game. We had so much fun and Alyvia and Allie played so well together through the entire game. Alabama played FIU and needless to say we kicked some Florida International hiney!!! As you can see in the picture, I live in a divided house. Matthew has on his Texas Longhorns shirt and I have on my Alabama shirt and houndstooth scarf. He likes Alabama too, but he is a Longhorns fan first :-(.

This is my friend, Elizabeth, of almost 12 years and myself. We met our freshman year of highschool. She loves Alabama football just as much as I do, if not more!

Kimba over at http://asoftplacetoland-kimba.blogspot.com/ is having DIY Day. Go on over there to see a ton of great ideas!

When my sister in law and her husband got married in 2005, one of her flower arrangements at her shower was in a real pumpkin. I loved it then and I have wanted one since, but one that would last longer than a week. So, like I said in my last post I love the Funkins Pumpkins at Hobby Lobby.

I put little black dots where I wanted to cut the top out of it. It is very easy to cut them, I used my husband's pocket knife.

At first it wasn't looking so great, I wasn't sure that I liked it. I knew I was going to have to add something around the edges to hide where I had cut the top out of the it. The edges were uneven and looked choppy to me.

So I added a little bit of Spanish Moss around the top and let it hang out of the top and fall down the sides. I decided to hang the top of the pumpkin on the side with a ribbon. Now it was looking a little better. After a little re-arranging I was finally getting the look that I was after. I added a bow and its finished...for the moment.

Here she is in her resting spot for this fall. The color in this next picture is poor. The coloring is more true in the picture above.

So it's a wrap and now I am ready to start something else, just not sure what yet...hmmmm.

It's Fall Ya'll

You wouldn't know it around here, it has been HOT around these parts!!! When football season starts and we start having "cooler than normal" mornings, I get the itch to start bringing out all of my fall decorations. It is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for, my favorite being Christmas (not that Christmas is a season, but you get it). I have been working on a few different fall decor projects the last couple of days. I have always had a love for pretty wreaths. There isn't one single day of the year that goes by and there isn't a wreath hanging on our front door. So this is what I am working on now for the front:

I am also addicted to the Funkins Pumpkins that Hobby Lobby carries. You can do so much with them. Here are two that I have finished and I am doing something a little different with another one that I will post pics of later.

Just a few more decorations and our house:

This cute little sign hangs on the side door:

This is on our front porch (by the way if you look closely, you can see Alyvia's little scarecrow, her own little personal touch):

My little angel with her scarecrow, not to be forgotten, the princess high-heels! If you can't tell, she worked with her Daddy all evening on this day.

And the front view of our house:

So that is as far as I have gotten so far in my decorating adventures. Stay tuned, more to come for sure!

My First Post!!!

I am very shocked that I am now blogging! I have "stalked" quite a few blogs for a while. I have never really felt the need to have my very own blog though, until now! My baby girl, Alyvia, is growing so fast and changing every day. It seems like just yesterday she was this size:

and now, here she is:

I think this is a really neat way to archive and document the funny little things that she says and does day in and day out. This blog won't only be about Alyvia. I love to decorate our home, work in our yard, paint, ride horses, etc. so occaisonally you will see some of that too. I am excited, but I will warn that I am NOT this overly clever and creative writer. However, I AM a very proud wife and mama that loves her little family and wants to be able to look back on it all here.
